Boeing Stearman PT13

 

The PT 13 Stearman was used as a primary
trainer during the second world war. This Stearman
is having its wings recovered. Next year the fuselage
will be recovered. This is the Stearman that has landed in every U.S. state and Canadian province in North America. These treks are described in Alan Lopez'
book, "Biplane Odyssey".

The fuselage is wheeled into the far hangar for storage (photo taken early spring)

Mike sands the nitrate primer on the center section.
This center section is an original style wood type assembled from a kit and replaces the metal center section that used to be on the aircraft.
These are some shots of the wings getting their finish color. The masked circles are where the star insignias will be painted.
     

These four pictures are
of the completed center section installed on the fuselage. The wings have been brought in for fitting and final assembly.
     
Mike & Dave install the wing walk on the lower left wing.
     

The PT13 is due to leave next week for points south. We are working quickly to reassemble so the aircraft can be flown Monday.
